Commercial Section

The Commercial Section, Consulate General of Pakistan, Houston is responsible for promotion/facilitation of exports of Pakistan including investment in Pakistan. It’s areas of jurisdiction are Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and all US territories and dependencies in the Atlantic and Caribbean region (Puerto Rice and US Virgin Islands). 

The Commercial Section is representative office of Ministry of Commerce and works in close coordination with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan- Chambers of Commerce and Association in Pakistan . The Commercial Section also offers matchmaking services for intending importers/investors. It is responsible for providing up-to-date trade, investment and tariff policies of Pakistan.

Investment Policies of Pakistan

Pakistan’s Investment Policy has been formulated to create an investor-friendly environment, with a focus on further opening up the economy and marketing the potential for direct foreign investment. The essence of the policy is to strengthen Pakistan’s competitiveness by improving the policy regime, offering fiscal and tariff relief and providing comprehensive facilitation services. Foreign Exchange Remittance Card (FERC)

The Foreign Exchange Remittance Card Scheme was launched by the Ministry of Finance through OPF in September, 2001 to encourage remittances by Overseas Pakistanis through normal banking channels. Originally Gold and Silver cards were offered to those overseas Pakistanis who were remitting US$10,000 and US$2,500 in a year respectively. A wide range of incentives are being offered to those overseas Pakistanis including the following incentives/benefits:-

Separate Counters for special handling at arrival and departure lounges at airports, and Free issuance and renewal of passport on an urgent basis.
